Almost a century and half ago, a sea captain built his seaside home—the Mooring. After months at sea, this home must have been a welcoming retreat with its 19th century Italianate architecture, ten-foot ceilings, gleaming hardwood floors, and spacious porch. Later purchased by seafood merchant Theophilus Baker, the Mooring was an inviting and gracious architectural cornerstone of the community.
That was then. This is now.
Since its purchase in 2012, when the home retained all of its original charm but lacked modern amenities, the Mooring has undergone an extensive restoration. All electrical, plumbing, fire sprinklers, and mechanical systems were replaced. The first floor was made handicap accessible, and a third story addition added two additional bedrooms and baths. Other upgrades included Central AC, LED lighting, Cable TV, WiFi, Integrated Audio system, AppleTV, Sonos, Pandora, and Sirius Radio.
Contemporary furnishings with a coastal flare make The Mooring the perfect location for family vacations, corporate retreats, special events and wedding parties. We would love to be a part of whatever special occasion you have planned next, and we look forward to hearing from you soon!
